2023 at Iris: A Year of Innovation

Greetings, fellow innovators and supporters of Iris Dynamics,

As we stand at the threshold of a new year, it's with immense joy and gratitude that we take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey that has been 2023. This past year has been nothing short of remarkable for Iris Dynamics, marked by inspiring milestones, relentless innovation, and unwavering commitment to our shared vision.

Orca-6 Lite

The biggest achievement of 2023; the Orca-6 Lite. Orca-6 Lite offers a competitively priced lower force option while maintaining the same sensitivity, silence, and high-speed precision performance as the rest of Iris’s force-controlled linear actuator lineup.

Orca Series motors combine drivers, controllers, and sensors, with simplified wiring and mechanical mounting points to make traditionally difficult tasks like retrofitting pneumatic cylinders, remotely force-linking controls, or collecting  and controlling force and motion data simple.

Raven

Another product release this year was the Raven-6DoF™ Motion Platform Development Kits. Raven-6DoF is the world’s only development kit for custom Stewart platform designers that provides a flexible, simple to use and cost effective solution with unmatched, best in class features.

Smart Controllers, Smart Motors

In addition to the Orca Series motors, we introduced the Kinematic Controller and the Haptic Controller in 2023. The Kinematic Controller adds a layer of control to the position control, generating precise motion profiles based on position targets and travel times. On the other hand, the Haptic Controller utilizes force feedback and physics models to simulate real-world interactions and generate tactical sensations through force feedback.

Giving you the reigns with Iris SDK

To make integration even easier, we released the Iris SDK in 2023. This C++ Software Development Kit for Windows includes libraries that abstract Modbus RTU communications to the Orca Series motor. Whether you want to integrate with existing programs or create custom programs to trigger and stream data to and from an Orca Series motor, the Iris SDK has got you covered.

Partnerships with Iris

2023 saw Iris teaming up with two amazing partners. 

The partnership between Iris Dynamics and Motion Express aims to revolutionize industrial automation by amalgamating state-of-the-art force-controlled linear motors with expert automation solutions. 

The dynamic collaboration with VRX Simulation will see integration of Iris Dynamics' state-of-the-art magnetic linear motor products into their cutting-edge motion systems for applications ranging from 2DoF (degrees of freedom) to 6DoF motion seats.
