In Motion | September 2025

In In Motion September, we highlight the benefits of a fully-integrated architecture, saving engineers valuable development time and money. We introduce new engineering resources to accelerate your development time, quick start guides will soon be available for every interface we support. We released another engineering resource being a simplified programming experience for those using Python, pyorcaSDK available for download.

Fully Integrated Smart Linear Motors Save Engineers Valuable Development Time & Money

Fully-integrated smart linear motors

By consolidating sensors, control electronics, and drive components into a single compact unit, integrated motors reduce setup time, simplify supply chains, and improve system reliability. This tight integration unlocks advanced features such as low-latency closed-loop control and high fidelity haptics, difficult to achieve in traditional modular systems. Explore the implications of a fully integrated linear drive system, and how this will save your engineers valuable development time, money, and accelerate your projects.

Getting started resources: python c++ modbus matlab labview

We’re always working to make it easier for you to navigate our documentation and accelerate your development times. That’s why we’ve created the Getting Started webpage, a guide to setting up your ORCA motor with the interfaces we support. Right now, you can dive into the IrisControlsPython, and C++ guides. More resources, including MATLAB, LabVIEW, and others, will be available soon.

Introducing pyorcaSDK, a Python library which provides a simplified programming experience when integrating ORCA Motors. Built based on the existing orcaSDK, pyorcaSDK provides the same core functionality of the SDK, which simplifies communication with the ORCA motor through an abstraction of the Modbus protocol. Installation instructions are available in the official repository. Python tutorials are available in our orcaSDK_tutorial repository, located in the corresponding main.py files.
