Iris Dynamics is excited to be attending automate 2022. Held once every two years, Automate is the largest solutions based automation show in North America. Showcasing automation, robotics, vision and motion control, Automate is the place to find cutting edge solutions and technology. Iris Dynamics will be showcasing the unique features of our motors, including force control, low latency, low TCO and silent operation.
Event Date: June 6th – 9th 2022
location: Detroit, MI – USA
PRODUCTS USED: ORCA-15-48V (6 UNITS)
CONTROLLERS USED: SUPER EAGLE CONTROLLER
The Iris Dynamics motion platform is built using 6 ORCA-15-48v motors. It features the mantis kinematic and washout controller, which is the Iris Dynamics implementation of Stewart platform motion queuing and control. The primary functions of mantis are to control the actuator positions according to incoming acceleration queues combined with ‘washout’ targets for each of the degree-of-freedom, as well as report the position of the platform.

CONTROLLERS USED: EAGLE CONTROLLER
This project demonstrates the force effects that are available when using an ORCA™ Series motor with an eagle controller. A spring force is commanded to throw the ball in the air, while progressive damping is used to gently catch it.

CONTROLLERS USED: super EAGLE CONTROLLER
This project demonstrated how multiple motors can be synchronized using our super eagle controller. when force is sensed on one motor, that force is applied to the others. when not in use a sine wave commands the motors positions.
PRODUCTS USED: ORCA-15-48V & ORCA-6-48v
CONTROLLERS USED: EAGLE CONTROLLER
This project demonstrates how two motors can be force linked. When force is applied to the shaft of one motor, it is mirrored in the other. A bias is also applied to favor one motor or the other, allowing visitors to easily lift a bowling ball.
PRODUCTS USED: ORCA-6-24V
CONTROLLERS USED: none
This project demonstrates the kinematic profiles which can be loaded onto the ORCA motor. Only a button is needed to launch a ball across the board.
