The IO SmartHub is used with ORCA™ Series Smart Linear Motors to enable control with simple analog and digital signals. A key function of the IO SmartHub is triggering pre-programmed motion profiles on the ORCA motor. The Auto zero function establishes a consistent position reference for the motor shaft.
Follow Along with Written Instructions
1. To connect the IO SmartHub to an ORCA motor and establish communications, plug the motor's RJ45 connector into the metal RJ45 port labelled 'Orca' on the SmartHub.
2. Once the motor is powered with the appropriate power supply, the IO SmartHub will receive power and establish a connection with the motor. Note that a baud rate of 19200 is required for this automatic connection to work. The baud rate of the ORCA motor can be adjusted in IrisControls.
3. Select the drop-down in the Zeroing Configuration to "IOSH Auto Zeroing". Now when the digital enable signal is sent to the IO SmartHub, the auto-zero function will be triggered.
For more information on using the IO SmartHub with IrisControls, consult our ORCA Reference Manual, both available on the downloads page of our website.
